Villwock Tops Madison Qualifiers

Dave Villwock, in the newly numbered 1 Spirit of Qatar 96, narrowly edged defending Lucas Oil Madison Regatta Champ Steve David in the 6 Oh Boy! Oberto to top all qualifiers during the Friday Pole Position qualifying session.

Villwock’s best lap was 148.837, a scant three tenths of a mile per hour better than David’s 148.548 on a Southern Indiana day where temperatures above 100 and high humidity affected crews, drivers and turbine engines

Rookie Jimmy Shane scored an impressive third spot on the qualifying ladder with a 146.377 in the 5 Graham Trucking.
