H1 Mourns Loss of Longtime Photographer Chris Denslow

The H1 Unlimited family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of longtime official and photographer Chris Denslow, who passed away on August 31 following complications from a short illness.

For more than 20 years, Chris dedicated himself to hydroplane racing as part of the H1 Unlimited team. Though he often preferred to stay behind the camera, his work and presence were central to the sport. His photos captured not only the competition on the water, but also the spirit, history, and community that define H1 Unlimited racing.

A native of Tri-Cities, Chris grew up immersed in the sport’s traditions. What began as a summer passion became his lifelong contribution, documenting the moments that made the sport what it is today. If it raced on the water in the Northwest, Chris was there with a camera – from radio controlled boats to the Unlimiteds and everything in between, he shot it all, and his contributions to H1 Unlimited, APBA and all the other series he witnessed cannot be understated.

“Chris was one of those rare individuals who quietly made things happen,” said Mike Denslow, H1 Chairman and Chris’s cousin. “As part of our team of officials, his dedication, humility, and talent left an indelible mark on the sport and on everyone who had the chance to work with him. Beyond his incredible work, he was family to me, he was family to everyone, and his loss is felt deeply.”

H1 Unlimited has lost an irreplaceable member of its team, and our thoughts are with Chris’s family and friends during this difficult time. More details regarding services will be shared as they become available.
