Graham commits to another year with Porter Racing

U-5 Graham TruckingDECATUR, Ind. – Rob Graham has announced that his company, Graham Trucking, will again be title sponsor for Team Porter Racing’s U-5 and U-7 hydroplanes.

Graham began his sponsorship of the team in the 2009 season when he picked up the naming rights to Porter’s U-7, then driven by J. Michael Kelly while Jeff Bernard piloted the U-5 Formula Boats craft. That season, Kelly piloted the U-7 Graham Trucking to a race win at the inaugural Oryx Cup UIM World Championship in Doha, Qatar. Kelly also finished fourth in the national high points standings.

“It was really exciting to be a part of the program that really launched two great young drivers in our sport,” Graham said of the 2009 season. “Since then, I’ve just been more and more impressed with the team and the way they go about doing things. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to win races, either.”

Graham Trucking is the second-longest current boat sponsor on the circuit. Since 1988 Graham Trucking has supported boat racing in the Pacific Northwest, whether as sponsor of Seafair or unlimiteds and other class boats.

“Over the years, we’ve supported everything from stock outboards and Formula One boats to Grand Prix and unlimiteds, and we’ve always done so with a lot of enthusiasm,” said Graham, a native of Seattle and life-long fan of boat racing.

Porter is also excited to continue the relationship.

“I’m very proud that Rob Graham is extending his support of our team for another year,” Porter said. “Rob is an outstanding person and a great supporter of unlimited hydroplane racing. It is fantastic to be a part of the Graham Trucking family.”

Porter said Graham Trucking will again support both boats, as the U-5 and U-7 Graham Trucking hulls. Kelly returns to the cockpit of the U-5, while Jesse Robertson joins the team as driver of the U-7. The two hulls known as T-6 (Kelly’s boat), and T-5 (Robertson’s) will continue as the team’s craft for the 2015 season.

During Graham’s years with Team Porter Racing, the team has won 13 races, five world championships and a national championship. Ten of those race wins, four of the world championships and the national championship have gone to boats bearing the name Graham Trucking.
