Andrew Tate and U-91 Miss Goodman Real Estate Capture the Apollo Mechanical Cup at Seafair
Seattle, WA – In front of a packed crowd lining the shores of Lake Washington, Andrew Tate and the U-91 Miss Goodman Real Estate team delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 Seafair, taking top honors in the Apollo Mechanical Cup Final. It was a picture-perfect rebound from a difficult weekend in Tri-Cities, and a major statement from one of the sport’s fiercest competitors.
With precision driving, flawless boat handling, and a team firing on all cylinders, Tate surged through the competition all weekend long—claiming Heat 3A, recording the fastest lap of the heat, and storming to victory in Sunday’s final despite stiff competition and high stakes.
“This one means a lot,” said Andrew Tate, who now sits atop the national driver high points standings. “After the mechanical setbacks and frustration in Tri-Cities, to come here and put together a weekend like this is incredibly rewarding. It’s a testament to our crew’s work ethic and to our partners at Goodman Real Estate and BWR Racing who support us every step of the way.”
Weekend Recap: Speed, Strategy, and Redemption
The story of the weekend was one of redemption. A week earlier, the U-91 team faced equipment challenges that left them out of contention. But in Seattle, the BWR Racing crew, led by team owner Bruce Ratchford, had the boat running at peak performance from the first lap of testing. The U-91 showed blistering speed in Heat 3A, setting the fastest lap and holding off a strong charge from the U-12 Graham Trucking and U-9 Beacon Plumbing.
Meanwhile, J. Michael Kelly in the U-8 Beacon Electric showed his own dominance in Heat 3B, laying down the fastest lap of the day at 147.737 MPH.

Apollo Mechanical Cup Final – Sunday
All seven qualified boats lined up for Sunday’s final, with U-21 Spirit of America taking the trailer position. Tensions ran high during milling, as teams fought for favorable inside lanes. But early mistakes cost several contenders dearly.
U-12 Graham Trucking, driven by Jeff Bernard, was disqualified before the start after entering the demilitarized zone (DMZ) during milling. Then, at the start clock, both U-8 Beacon Electric and U-11 FLAV-R-PAC jumped the gun, earning each a 1-minute penalty—a devastating blow for two of the fastest boats of the weekend.
That opened the door for the consistent and quick U-91, with Tate taking full advantage. He nailed the start, controlled the inside lanes, and never looked back.
