U-99
Miss HAPO
Driver Profile: Ryan Mallow
Ryan Mallow has driven high-powered hydroplanes to race wins before – he’s the driver of the GP-19 “Miss Everett”, owned by Tom Eckenberg on the Grand Prix West tour and been a fixture on the Unlimited circuit for years, though not in the driver’s seat.
Ryan has worked as a crew member for a number of teams and is currently the Crew Chief of Brian Perkins’ U-21 Miss Albert Lee Appliance. He will qualify as a Unlimited driver in the U-99 Miss HAPO at the 2011 Lamb-Weston Columbia Cup.
Team Profile: Leland Unlimited
With 17 victories under his belt as an Unlimited owner, Fred Leland is second only to Erick Ellstrom (who has 20 wins) among active owners on the H1 Unlimited circuit. Competing as a driver, designer, and builder throughout his career, Leland had his most successful season as an owner in 1996 when the PICO AMERICAN DREAM swept the competition, claiming six victories and the National High Point Championship with Dave Villwock as driver.
