The World’s Fastest Race Boats – Unlimited Hydroplanes- have been gathering on Lake Washington in early August since 1951, making the Albert Lee Cup at Seafair one of the longest standing events of its kind anywhere in the world.

In 2011, the H1 Unlimited Series continues to grow and expand its horizons withnew race teams, new young drivers and new domestic and international events.

Since the inaugural overseas race in Doha, Qatar in November of 2009, interest in the “Biggest Show on Water” has grown around the world. In 2011, the series will make its third appearance in the Middle East, with additional events on other continents in the planning stages.

Veteran front-runners Steve David in the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto –defending Series High Point Champion-and Dave Villwock in the U-96 Spirit of Qatar are now closely pursued by a group of younger drivers who are making their mark on the sport.

The H1 Unlimited fleet for the 2011 running of the Albert Lee Cup at Seafair will be the biggest and fastest in the history of Seattle’s annual hosting of one of boat racing’s biggest events.
